phone calls

so
I just finished making my usy phone calls
they are the most awkward things ever
like the worst, seriously.
have you ever called up some random people that you used to go to sunday school with and see every week on a three day basis but now only see at the two-time jew events (aka rosh hashana and yom kippur) and then call them up and be like hey want to join youth group and most of them are like NO GO AWAY but it would be too awkward if they actually said that so instead they dutifully listen to everything that you have to say even though you know as you are making the phone call that they couldn't be more disinterested and non-plussed.
it's even awkward getting these phone calls because I used to last year when I wasn't on board and I know EXACTLY how the people on the other end of the phone fell because I've totally been there done that.
But I suppose that it could be ok if I could just feel like I made a difference, convinced someone to join usy or come to an event.
I think I just convinced this kid who I haven't seen since yom kippur LAST year (but will be seeing at high holy days in the coming weeks... more <0>) to join the yahoo groups listserve thing, just so he could get me to shut up and stop talking.
oh yes, they joys of usy.
but I love my wheels bus and I'm glad I joined for that at least.
but the phone trees, yeah I could do without those.
